Hello and welcome to FFN. For the past six years my company has worked with the higher education sector offering a consultancy service specifically based around enterprise provision to business schools, career service s and enterprise departments within universities. I am also familiar with working alongside national external educational organisations such as the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship and Young Enterprise. The service extends to working with and supporting higher education students who set up their own business either as part of the curriculum or outside it. My company also works with public and private sector organisations via the universities to develop educational learning programmes and degrees for employees.
In addition I have a long history of teaching enterprise, entrepreneurship and small business management and all aspects of marketing up to Executive MBA level as a visiting lecturer to a number of universities. I have developed a highly successful Business Enterprise Programme at the University of Newcastle
upon Tyne and Northumbria University – with my students winning national and international awards. I can provide details on what is needed to develop successful enterprise programmes, curriculum development and can advise on hatchery and incubator provision. I speak regularly at business events for a variety of organisations on issues surrounding business start-up, business growth, marketing and how to maximise business success.
Part of the reason for my success is that I have a vast experience of starting and running businesses (Barclays Small Business of the Year winner 1990) as well as having advised many business start-ups and growth companies over the years. I am unique in that I have sound academic knowledge and research behind me and yet have practical working and commercial experience. Students and any one starting their own business relate to my programmes because I understand the process and the issues involved. Programmes are tailored to assist owner managers to optimise their chances of success and to reduce the risk of business failure in the future.
